Scraping Institutional Holdings from SEC and store in SQL DB – Python for Finance



Welcome to this video tutorial on how to scrape Institutional Investor Holdings from SEC and store in a SQL Database. We will first scrape all daily SEC Forms 13F, convert them in a Pandas DataFrame and add them to a SQL Database.

We will use SQLite and the pandas method to_Sql in order to write from pandas DataFrame to SQL Database.

We will also see how to set a connection to a SQL database in Python, how to create SQL tables from Python and how to run SQL queries in Python.

  1. After coming back to this tutorial this morning I've found that when running the code for this tutorial and the previous SEC tutorial I am getting a 403 Forbidden error. Have they changed their file structure?
